Fresh tenders called for sand auctioning

Staff Reporter

Kakinada: Joint Collector K. Sasidhar has ordered that fresh tenders be called for auctioning 15 reaches of sand in East Godavari in as many days amidst reports of a syndicate being formed by some big contractors. The auction committee has decided to call tenders again on the presumption that higher bids might be filed by the next deadline. This is expected to fetch more revenue for the government.

Mr. Sasidhar announced the deferment of finalisation of bids in the presence of contractors who came to participate in the auctioning at Bennet Club here, when he found that the minimum upset price (MUP) was not quoted by any one of them, barring the Ainavilli reach for which a bid was finalised for Rs. 45.88 lakh.

It was declared by the Joint Collector that those who submit bids more than what the rules permit, don’t have the chance to withdraw. The Andhra Pradesh Mineral Development Corporation submitted highest bids for 13 reaches but it has also to file fresh bids now.

The bidding for Rajavaram reach was barred by High Court.
