BIDAR: The former Minister B.T. Lalitha Naik on Tuesday said she was ready for an investigation to find out whether she had links with naxalites as reportedly suggested by Home Minister V.S. Acharya. Reacting to Dr. Acharya’s reported statement calling for such an inquiry, she told presspersons here that “she would speak about the prevailing naxal situation in the State if an investigation is held”. Ms. Naik said Dr. Achaya should understand “why tribal people are backing naxals” and initiate measures to solve their problems. That would help control the growth of naxalism. She expressed concern over the policemen being killed in the fight against naxalism in the State. — Staff Correspondent
