Letters to the Editor
The people of Jammu and Kashmir have demonstrated enormous courage and vision by exercising their franchise in the first two phases of the Assembly elections despite the boycott call from separatists and the freezing temperatures. They have set a shining example to others. They have reiterated their unflinching faith in democracy. B.H. Shanmukhappa, Davanagere The spirit of democracy lives on in Kashmir. The Kashmiri awam have shown that the separatist movement is no longer popular among them. Shubhneet Kaushik, Varanasi The turnout in the first two phases shows that the ballot prevails over the bullet. The common man has yet again reposed his faith in the democratic process. Whichever party or formation comes to power in the State should live up to the people’s expectations and make efforts to find a permanent solution to the Kashmir issue. Satwant Kaur, Mahilpur
