Drain de-weeding drive launched by corporation

CLEANING UP: Corporation workers and an earthmover engaged in clearing the weeds in Kathirikai Vaical in Tiruchi on Tuesday. —

TIRUCHI: The Tiruchi Corporation has launched a drive to remove weeds from drainage channels in the city.

The lush weed growth has been impeding water flow in the drainages. On Tuesday, the Corporation started removing the weeds from the Kathirikai channel which cuts across Vayalur Road. The channel serves as an important storm water drain for a large number residential colonies in the region. Commissioner T.T.Balsamy, Executive Engineers R.Chandran and S.Arunachalam supervised the operation.

The drive is expected to continue for the next few days.
