TIRUCHI: Sleuths of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti Corruption (DVAC), Tiruchi, unit arrested a Motor Vehicle Inspector and an office assistant attached to the Regional Transport Office (RTO), Srirangam, on Tuesday on graft charge. The DVAC personnel conducted a search in the Kattur house of the Inspector (Grade I) M. Prabhakaran at Kattur and seized documents pertaining to acquisition of assets. Both Prabhakaran and office assistant M. Soundarapandian were produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court and later lodged in the Central Prison here. DVAC sources said the duo demanded Rs. 750 as bribe from one M. Bilal to register an earthmover purchased by a private auto agency functioning on the Madurai Road in the city’s outskirts. The bribe was allegedly demanded when Bilal, who was the authorised representative of the auto agency, went to the Srirangam RTO on Monday.
