ERODE: All India Trade Union Congress has urged the State Government to stop cutting power supply and take remedial measures. In a release the trade body says that the Government started with the concept of weekly power holiday and subsequently introduced so many restrictions that industrialists found it difficult to run industries. Today, there is power consumption restriction – high tension industries have been asked to cut consumption by 40 per cent and low tension consumers by 20 per cent, restriction on time of use – between six and 10 in the evening, and the industries have been asked not to draw power from TNEB, and then power cut in the day, the trade union points out and says that such restrictions have crippled the industries and labourers. LimitAITUC has asked the Government to increase from Rs. 3,500 a month to Rs. 10,000 the eligibility limit in monthly salary of workers of spinning mills so that more workers benefited from the scheme to provide relief to workers of closed spinning mills. Special packageIt also asked for a special package for beedi workers who have been hit by the recent ban on smoking in public places. The other demands of the trade union include implementation of labour and factory laws in industries and reduction in fuel prices.
