Eplus Club opened in Guntur district

VIJAYAPURI SOUTH (GUNTUR DT.): Acquiring the skills required to become employable in either private or public sector organisation has become essential and merely securing a high percentage of marks in core subjects is not sufficient, said Krishna-Guntur Teachers’ Constituency MLC K.S. Lakshman Rao.

Formally launching the The Hindu Eplus Club on the Andhra Pradesh Residential Degree College campus here on Wednesday, he lauded the efforts being taken by the newspaper for driving home the subtle differences that make a person bag a plum job in companies or get a prized higher studies opportunity in competitive examinations like IIMs, IITs through CAT, GMAT, GRE and TOFEL.

Appreciating the initiative of launching Eplus Clubs in Government Colleges and institutions for the disadvantaged in Tier-II cities of Andhra Pradesh, he opined that they were the people who had potential to get the thousands of jobs up for grabs in the global market. “About 83 per cent of students in Government and Aided colleges are from among the SCs, STs, BCs, and Minorities, who genuinely require this kind of encouragement,” he observed.

Giving a suggestion to The Hindu, he wanted a similar initiative taken for preparing students for the government jobs like Group-I, Group-II and Teachers’ Recruitment through DSC in thousands in the coming six months. The Hindu Education Plus team from Hyderabad, Guntur and Vijayawada explained that 98 per cent of students from such colleges got rejected at job fairs as they lacked employability. The idea of this programme was to make students confident while facing any interview.
