Corrections and clarifications

* * In a report “I was tortured, says Purohit” (November 25, 2008), the name of the Malegaon blast suspect was given as Lieutenant-Colonel Prasad Purohit. His full name is Lieutenant-Colonel Prasad Shrikant Purohit.

* * In a report “Two killed in J&K violence on eve of second round of polls” (November 23, 2008, page 1), the tenth paragraph gave the number of polling booths as 530, while the accompanying KBK graphic titled “2nd phase Polling in Jammu and Kashmir” gave it as 632. The Special Correspondent, Srinagar, clarifies that the figure 530 was given by the Chief Electoral Officer. Mr. Vijay Kumar, Managing Editor, KBK Newsgraphics Network, clarifies that the figure 632 is based on the official press release/website of the Election Commission of India.

* * In a report “Karnataka takes control” (“Sport”, November 25, 2008), the second paragraph stated that Karnataka’s Sunil Joshi hit 3x4 and 6x6 runs, while the seventh paragraph said that he slammed 11 fours and six sixes. The detail in the second paragraph is right. (The report was on the second day of the Ranji Trophy Super League Group ‘B’ cricket match between Karnataka and Baroda at the RSI grounds, Bangalore.)

* * The third paragraph of a report “Baroda skittled out for 169” (“Sport”, November 24, 2008) referred to left-arm spinner Sunil N. Raju. He is a right arm off break bowler. (The report was on the opening day’s play in the Ranji Trophy Super League Group ‘B’ cricket match at the RSI grounds, Bangalore.)
