dated November 27, 1958: Indo-Pak disputes

Mian Ziauddin, High Commissioner for Pakistan in India, told a Press conference in Calcutta on November 26 that Indo-Pakistan disputes on Kashmir and Canal Waters “can be solved in a neighbourly way.” He said that “the present regime in Pakistan is more for action than for talks. It can solve the Kashmir problem. I think that this can be solved as two neighbours should solve their disputes.” He said, “The General wants an amicable settlement of these two issues.”
