dated November 27, 1958: Chetpet over-bridge

The over-bridge at the railway level crossing in the McNichols’ Road at Chetpet, newly constructed at a cost of Rs.13,75,000 was declared open on November 26, by Mr. Bishnuram Medhi, Governor of Madras. The Governor hailed it as an important step towards obtaining efficiency in the continuous flow of traffic in the city roads and contributing to the growth of trade and commerce. The over-bridge links the Poonamallee High Road with the Nungambakkam High Road and the latter road leads up to the Mount Road. It thus connects two important trunk roads.
