This Day That Age
Soviet glaciologists have found an 80-mile wide depression sinking to between 2,600 feet and 3,280 feet below sea level, under a 12,400-foot icecap in the Eastern Antarctic, Tass reported in Moscow on November 24. The deepest known depression, the shores surrounding the Dead Sea, is 1,286 feet below sea level.
