VIJAYAWADA: The eighth international conference of the Afro-Asian Peoples’ Solidarity Organisation (AAPSO) will be held at Hotel Taj Deccan in Hyderabad for three days from December 14. Over 400 delegates from 38 countries will participate in the programme that will discuss issues like the existing global economic crisis, the Non-Alignment Movement and the Palestine liberation.

Foreign Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee will inaugurate the conference and Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and representatives of different political parties will participate. Over 1,200 delegates representing various organisations working for human rights will take part in the deliberations on the first day.

K. Prabhakar, State general secretary of the All India Peace and Solidarity Organisation (AIPSO) told a press conference on Wednesday that the conference would coincide with the 50th anniversary of the AAPSO. “This is the time to discuss global economic crisis and Non-Alignment Movement. All the delegates will take a pledge on liberation of Palestine, besides demanding the US to withdraw its forces from Iraq,” he said. State secretary of the AIPSO B.S. Koteswara Rao and secretary of its Krishna district unit B. Zamindar were present.
