Opposition for cut in fuel prices
Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD: Opposition parties have demanded that the Central government take steps to cut the petroleum prices in proportion with the decline in crude oil prices in the international markets.
The Telugu Desam Party, CPI(M), CPI, Janata Dal (S) and the All-India Forward Bloc, expressed concern that while the crude prices dwindled by more than half, the government was contemplating a nominal cut in the prices of petrol and diesel. Moreover, Petroleum Minister Murli Deora indicated that an announcement on the reduction in prices was likely only after a month .
The meeting expressed concern that government was not evincing interest in cutting down prices of fuel that affected the common man.
