CHENNAI: Chief Justice of the Madras High Court A.K. Ganguly on Wednesday urged lawyers to resolve not to hold any strike (boycott of courts) whatever their grievances may be.

He made the appeal while delivering the Law Day lecture under the auspices of The Madras Bar Association.

He said that today one could not say that the promises given in the Constitution had been fulfilled.

The occasion was a day of introspection for advocates and the judiciary to rededicate themselves to ensure that the dream in the Preamble to the Constitution was realised.

Oath administered

Justice P.K. Misra, Judge, Madras High Court, administered the Law Day oath.

Advocates K. Veeraraghavan, A. Balaguru, V. Veeraraghavan and R. Krishnaswamy were felicitated for having completed 50 years at the Bar.

Citations of V.Thiagarajan and C.Chinnasamy, who were not present, were read out.
