‘1 crore farmers benefitting from loan waiver scheme’

MAHABUBNAGAR: Efforts were being taken to lay the foundation stone for Kalwakurthy Lift Irrigation – phase –II works before the elections said Minister for Rural Development G.Chinna Reddy.
Participating in farmers incentive celebrations at Bhootpur mandal headquarters on Thursday the Minister handed over the credit advice to the eligible farmers who repaid their crop loans in time. He informed that as many as one crore farmers in the state are being benefited from waiving of loans and farmers incentive scheme. he also said that the works of four lift irrigation projects which were taken up in the district to provide additional irrigation water to 8 lakh acres are going fast. The Minister further informed that water would be released from one pump in each project between January to June - 2009. Many schemes are being implemented for the benefit of farmers and added as many as 1.79 lakh farmers in the district were getting benefit of Rs.93.38 crores as incentive and government has reduced BT cottonseed rate.
