MADURAI: The Department of Medicine of Government Rajaji Hospital would conduct a continuing medical education (CME) programme on emergency medicines on November 29, said Dean (in-charge) S. M. Sivakumar here on Thursday. Speaking to reporters, he said that about 200 physicians would participate in the programme, which would deal with emergency medicines and diabetes, and cardiac and neuro medicines. Doctors, and resource persons from various parts of the country would address the meet, Department of Medicine Head A. Ayyappan said. The doctors said that the CME programme would serve as a platform to learn modern techniques. Baby saved Dr. Sivakumar said that a team of doctors successfully saved a 8-month-old baby boy from Virudhunagar district who had inhaled a safety pin a few days ago. Following complaints of uneasiness and poor health of the baby, when the parents took the child to a nearby hospital, they were referred to the GRH. A team of doctors, including Raja Manoharan and K.R. Kannappan, successfully removed the object. The patient is recovering, he said.
