Marathon on Sunday

Madikeri: The annual Kodagu Cauvery Marathon will be held on Sunday, said a press statement issued on Friday by the Cauvery PU College, Bhagamandala, the organisers of the event.

About 100 persons are expected to participate. Six cash prizes would be given away. Winner in the mens’ category will be given a cash prize of Rs. 50,000 while in the women’s category, the winner will be given Rs. 25,000.

Bhaskar Achar, a doctor hailing from Bhagamandala, now living in the U.S., has been sponsoring the event for the last 14 years.

Deputy Commissioner M.K. Baladevakrishna will inaugurate the event. The organisers also said that a medical camp, in association with the Ashwini Hospital here, would be held in the last week of December, as a part of the marathon. Normally, camps were being held a day after the event. Medical officers from the Narayana Hrudayalaya had attended the camp last year.
