TIRUCHI: The two-day national conference on Environmental Science and Technology organised by the Department of Environmental Bio-Technology, School of Environmental Sciences of Bharathidasan University commenced here on Friday. The meet has been arranged with a view to providing opportunity for the participants to exchange views, identify priority areas of research and formulate strategies to conserve biological resources for their sustainable environmental management. The conference on Environmental Science and Technology has been organised to derive possible solutions to environmental problems with the application of bio-technology. S.L. Govindwar, Advisor, Department of Bio-Technology, Government of India, delivered the inaugural address, while the Bharathidasan University Vice Chancellor M. Ponnavaikko gave the presidential address. The conference abstract book and proceedings was released by Dr. P.P. Sood, Dean, Society for Science and Environment, Jaipur. Delegates from national and international institutes are participating in the conference, a press release said.
