Lt. Col. (Retd) B.S. Sandhu — With recession hitting most of the sectors big time, professionals and small-time businessmen are looking for greener pastures overseas. In such a scenario, immigration consultancy services is hotting up. “When the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) was 9 per cent, the immigration was less. Earlier to that when the GDP was between 6 and 7 per cent, the rate of people resettling in foreign countries was high. With the GDP expecting to slide from the existing 9 per cent, the interest being shown by people wishing to relocate is gaining momentum,” says Lt. Col. (Retd) B.S. Sandhu, Chairman and Managing Director, WorldWide Immigration Consultancy Services Limited (WWICS) Group. He spoke to Amutha Kannan when on a visit to Coimbatore with his team to conduct a free seminar on “Fast Track Immigration Opportunities in Canada, Australia and Europe”. The seminar here was part of the series he was holding in various other cities. According to Lt. Col. Sandhu, countries like Canada, Australia and Denmark have not felt the heat of the recession. “This is because the population in these countries is less and hence corresponding growth is also low. Economy is chiefly fuelled by immigrants. Hence, the opportunities for immigrants to thrive are immense”. ImmigrationSince its inception in 1993, the company has helped 60,000 families immigrate. It does not stop with immigration and settlement, but is also involved in placement. “We offer total resettlement solutions for the individual and the family members. There are families wishing to relocate lock, stock and barrel to countries where they can continue in a career similar to the one they were pursuing in India, or take up a new business. Our settlement and placement experts ensure that the person is well placed and the family is settled in comfortably. The post-landing service is our Unique Selling Proposition.” He says that the response the team has been getting from the various places where they have held seminars has been good. Even those with high salaries have evinced interest in relocating overseas apprehending the decline in GDP. SchemesThe company offers choices and special schemes to enable all categories of people to immigrate. There are opportunities alike for those with high or low capital; and for those with or without education. For instance, it has identified Kiev in Ukraine as an ideal relocation setting for farmers. “It has black soil. Small time farmers can settle there and invest in land. The local labour can be employed to work the farm. They can be assured of 30 per cent returns in a year,” he assures. The majority of the company’s clients are professionals – IT, engineers, finance experts, health care experts and those in marketing. Businessmen and students form rest of the clientele. With the GDP threatening to slide, he looks forward to “100 per cent business”.
