TIRUPATI: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) management on Saturday promised the agitating forest workers of putting them on duty from December 15. Addressing the workers who were protesting under the banner of the CPI(M) and the TTD Contract Workers’ Union, TTD Executive Officer K.V. Ramanachary admitted that their demands were ‘ reasonable’. He said a committee headed by Joint Executive Officer V. Seshadri had been constituted to go into their demands and come out with a viable solution by December 7. Earlier, the forest workers picketed the TTD administrative building on the third day of their agitation chanting ‘Govinda, Govinda’. The striking employees expressed their opposition to working under societies instead of the TTD’s forest department. The Executive Officer assured them that the committee would look into their demand. TTD’s Conservator of Forests Ashok Kumar said as he had taken charge of the post only a month ago, he was not aware of the alleged irregularities in the office and promised to sort them out in league with the committee. The demonstrations were led by the CPI(M) State committee leader K. Murali and other union leaders.
