Passenger detained at airport

Nedumbassery: Immigration officials at the international airport here on Saturday detained a passenger on arrival from Saudi Arabia on the charge of travelling on a fake passport. The passenger, identified as Ismayil, a native of Coorg, arrived by an Air Arabia flight from Dammam and was found travelling on a passport in the name of Abdul Rashid Zakkir Hussain by replacing the original photograph with his own.

Officials said Ismayil confessed to obtaining the forged passport from an agent for 6,500 riyals. He went to Riyadh in 2002 from Mumbai and obtained a forged passport after his sponsor refused to hand over the original passport and work visa.
