Guntur sculptor gets Telugu varsity award

GUNTUR: India’s one of the renowned sculptor and painter C.S.N. Patnaik has been chosen for highest award of the Potti Sriramulu Telugu University ‘Visishta Puraskar - 2007’ to be presented on December 2 on the university premises.

An exhibition of 30 of his chosen creations both in sculpting and painting from 1953 to 2006 would be on display on that day.

Mr. Patnaik, an alumnus of the Government College of Arts and Crafts, Chennai, had got his diploma in painting in 1955. Unique feature of his creations was the rustic look and depiction of anatomy in detail, while working at his personal foundry at Vidyanagar in Guntur. He is moving to Visakhapatnam from Guntur on December 1.
