Bhainsa made police sub-division

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Bhainsa town of Adilabad district, which witnessed one of the worst communal conflagrations in October last claiming nine lives, has now been made into a police sub-division to be headed by a Deputy Superintendent of Police. Orders making Bhainsa as the seventh sub-division in Adilabad district were issued on Friday.

Following the October communal clashes which attracted nation-wide attention due to burning alive of six members of a family, the government announced the revamp of security set up. The posting of a DSP rank officer in Bhainsa, after it is made a sub-division is intended to make available a senior officer who could take instant decisions on emerging situations. Hither to, Bhainsa was part of Nirmal sub-division, the biggest among the six sub-divisions in the district.

The Bhainsa town is classified as the second most communally sensitive town in the State, with an equal population of Hindus and Muslims. The newly formed sub-division will have eight police stations in three circles – Bhainsa town police station headed by an Inspector as the Station House Officer (SHO), Bhainsa rural and Mudhole circles.
