KOCHI: Silence spoke volumes when the Ernakulam Maharajas College mime team poignantly mapped on stage the real-life story of a woman who attained motherhood in her early sixties. The work touched the hearts of the capacity crowd at the Maharajas College ground, the main venue of the Mahatma Gandhi University youth festival. Based on the story of Bhavani Amma from Muvattupuzha, who became a mother at 62 last year through assisted reproductive techniques, the performance by the young talents effectively traced the joy of having a child and also the pain of losing the baby in a mishap. The emotions were brought on stage through some deft body movements by the team members. The tragic turn of events in Bhavani Amma’s life found expression on stage thanks to the excellent choreography by the mime team from Maharajas College. The Maharajas College team walked away with the first prize.
