Jewellery recovered, 2 held

Tiruvannamalai: A police team headed by Polur Deputy Superintendent of Police V. Gopal recovered 30 sovereigns of gold jewellery stolen from 10 different places in various parts of the district. Two habitual offenders were arrested.

Speaking to reporters here on Saturday, Mr. Gopal said that the team, after weeks of investigation, zeroed-in on two habitual offenders, Siva alias Thiruttu Siva (23) of J.J. Nagar, Chennai, and Balu of Pudukottai village near Tirupattur.

The team monitored their movement and arrested them on suspicion near Government Hospital, Tiruvannamalai.

The two had a piece of jewellery in their possession.

Interrogation

During interrogation, they confessed to the crimes and revealed where they had hidden the rest of the stolen jewellery.

The police seized 10 pieces of jewellery weighing 240 gram, Mr. Gopal said.
