Lucknow: A notorious criminal wanted in a number of cases in Western Uttar Pradesh and Haryana was killed in an encounter in Muzaffarnagar district, home department sources said Sunday. Mahtab, wanted in a number of cases of loot, extortion and murder, was killed in an encounter on Saturday after he was surrounded by a police team following a tip off, they said. A .32 bore pistol and a motorcycle was recovered from his possession.
