Demo planned on JNNURM issue

CUTTACK: Like previous years, the Cuttack Bachao Committee is going to stage a day and night demonstration in the city on December 3 in protest against the exclusion of the Millennium city from the ambitious one lakh crore Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewable Mission (JNNURM).

The project launched exactly four years ago is going to observe its anniversary on Wednesday next when the Prime Minister Mr. Manmohan Singh would review the progress made in it till date. Last year, on this date the Committee observed a dawn to dusk Cuttack bandh paralysing the normal life in the city. The members of the committee picketed in about 10 crucial places of the city in which a large number of city denizens joined them spontaneously.

The committee has been agitating over this issue for the past four years.
