KOTTAYAM: The body of Reshma James, 24, who was killed by her estranged husband in a shoot-out in New Jersey, U.S., during a church service on November 23 was brought to her hometown of Kaduthuruthy, near here, on Sunday.

Reshma was shot dead by her husband Sanish Joseph, with whom she had a strained relationship in less than a year of married life, during the Sunday service at the St. Thomas Knanaya Jacobite Church at Clifton in New Jersey. She died at the hospital. Another person of Indian origin, Dennis John Malloosseril, was killed in the shootout.

Reshma’s body was brought to the Cochin International Airport (CIAL) at 4 a.m. on Sunday. It was released to her relatives by 8 a.m. Hundreds of people had gathered at her house to pay their last respects.

Minister for Public Works Mons Joseph and Leader of the Opposition Oommen Chandy were among those who paid homage to Reshma.

The funeral will be held at the Kaduthuruthy Valiapally cemetery on Monday.
