Man creates scene at water tank

Kakinada: President of a local port workers’ cooperative society V. Satyanarayana Swamy threatened to leap to death from a water tank on the Government Hospital premises here on Sunday demanding that justice be done to the anchorage port workers who have been alleging diversion of cargo to the deep water port by some vested interests. Mr. Swamy of Jagannadhapuram climbed the water tank at about 7.30 a.m. and stayed there for a couple of hours, saying that he would not come down unless his society got the due share of work at the deep water port.

Police warning

The police persuaded him not to resort to the extreme step by assuring that he would be given an audience with the Collector and port officials. Mr. Swamy finally come down believing the policemen, who took him into custody and let him off after warning him against creating a similar situation again.
