KOCHI: Geojit Financial Services Limited has been ranked at 384 in Business Today’s annual list of 500 of the country’s most valuable private sector companies for 2008. BNP Paribas, the single largest shareholder in Geojit, has the distinction of being one of the three strongest banks in the world, according to Standard & Poor’s. A company release said 2008 started off with the bullish Sensex reaching its all-time high. But as the close of the calendar year approaches, the scenario has changed dramatically. The meltdown has swamped financial systems and stock markets across the globe and India. BT’s list of 500 of the country’s most valuable private sector companies is a timely barometer of India Inc.’s performance in these tough times.
