Surender wins 10K half-marathon

HYDERABAD: Surender Raut of ONGC won the Hyderabad 10K half-marathon organised by Hyderabad 10K Foundation here on Sunday, clocking 1 hour, 3 minutes, 45 sec.

Sandeep Kumar of Uttar Pradesh and Bining Lyng Khoi of Army Sports Institute (Pune) finished second and third respectively.

The results: Half-Marathon: Men: 1. Surender Raut (ONGC), 2. Sandeep Kumar (UP), 3. Bining Lyng Khoi (ASI, Pune).

Women: 1. Kavitha Prasad (ONGC), 2. Preethi L. Rao (Jharkhand), 3. Vaishali Chatare (Central Railway, Nagpur).

Veterans (50 years & above): 1. Gret Bolt (Holland), 2. Kushal Chand (Hyd), 3. Tripura Sundar Rao (Vsp).

10k Run: Boys: 1. Laxman (Hyd), 2. Ch. Dasaratha (Hyd), 3. Abdul Rao (Hyd). Girls: 1. Uma Maheshwari (AP Sports School), 2. Varalaxmi (SAI Hostel), 3. Shabnam (Modern high School).

Women: 1. Preeja Sreedharan (Kerala), 2. G. Lakshmi (SCR), 3. Rajya Lakshmi (SCR).
VPG triumphs

Victory Playground defeated Mayors 40-31 in the Hyderabad district annual league basketball championship here.

Easy win for EME

EME Centre recorded a 2-0 win over AOC Centre in the SAAP Budweiser Premier League football championship.

Rajesh Mathew and Charles scored.

In another match, South Central Railway and Hyderabad Globe were locked in a goalless draw.
Gowrishankar XI wins trophy

Gowrishankar XI defeated United Sports Academy 3-0 in the seniors’ final of the Archbishop S. Arulappa Memorial football tournament at Trimulgherry Village Grounds here.

Sashank netted a brace and Ravi scored of a solo effort for the winner.

In the schools’ final, St. Andrews High School put it across Government Boys High School (Trimulgherry) 2-0 with left-out Manoj and captain Sankreeth striking once each.
