KOCHI: The Nair Service Society general secretary P. K. Narayana Panicker has urged the community to unite without any political bias. Addressing a public function at the Nair Mahasammellanam of the Kochi-Kanayannur Taluk NSS Karayogam Union at the Marine Drive grounds, Mr. Panicker said that people in the community may follow any political party but they should not forget about the future of their children. The Union and the State Governments have never considered giving any help to the Nair society, he said. Reservations are based on backward caste and not class, he said. Religion and caste have become opium for politics, he said. Takuk Union president, M. M. Govindan Kutty Master, presided over the function. V. Muraleedharan Master, Karayogam Union vice-president, welcomed the gathering. NSS Director Board member N. P. Ayyappan Pillai, spoke on the occasion. P. S. Vishwambharan, Taluk Union secretary, proposed a vote of thanks.
