Banjara development corporation sought

BANGALORE: The All India Banjara Seva Sangha has appealed to the State Government to set up a Banjara development corporation by December 15.

Addressing presspersons here on Saturday, general secretary of the sangha Chandrashekar Naik urged the State Government to increase the allocation in the budget for Banjaras’ development from Rs. 25 crore to Rs. 100 crore.

Mr. Chandrashekar said that although the Government had announced funds to a body for the welfare of the Banjara community, it was later diverted to another corporation. The community has been deprived of many basic facilities.
