Haddin, Clarke hit hundreds

Adelaide: Brad Haddin scored a potentially match-winning 169 that helped Australia pile on 535 runs in its first innings against New Zealand, on the third day of the second Test at the Adelaide Oval on Sunday.

Michael Clarke played a crucial hand with a 239-ball 110. The visiting side was 35 for no loss at stumps.

Haddin struck 24 fours besides smashing leg-spinner Aaron Redmond for two sixes in his 222-ball essay.

The wicketkeeper’s maiden Test century was entertaining, sometimes risky, but well-paced.
