DUBAI: ICC chief executive Haroon Lorgat urged England to go ahead with its tour of India amid growing fears that either an under-strength squad will be sent or the two-Test series will be cancelled. “If safety and security allow then I would urge the England Test tour of India to go ahead and if it does so then representatives of the ICC will be there to show solidarity with the competing teams,” Lorgat said Sunday in a statement. “Sadly, terrorism appears increasingly to be a fact of life that we must endure..” Lorgat said all 10 full ICC members, plus three associate members, would discuss security issues raised by the terror attacks in Mumbai at a scheduled meeting in Cape Town next week. ECB managing director Hugh Morris said Saturday that England was committed to the India tour, provided it was “safe and secure” to return. A decision will be made by Monday after consultations with the ECB’s security staff, the British Foreign Office and the UK High Commissioner in Delhi. Morris confirmed individual players will be not be forced to travel. — AP
