Tense situation at nursing college

KOLLAM: A tense situation prevailed at the nursing college attached to the N.S. Memorial Institute of Medical Sciences here on Monday morning when a student jumped out of the window of the Principal’s office on the fifth floor and suffered serious injuries. The police identified him as Prajeen, a first-year general nursing student.

According to the police, the student jumped out of the window in a fit of rage after his father who had been summoned to the Principal’s office slapped him. The Principal said the student had been warned on two occasions previously against sending scandalous SMS messages to girl students of the college. When he repeated the act, his mobile phone was seized and his father was summoned to the college. When the student’s father was shown the messages, he slapped his son, the Principal said.
