Rain damage: 238 petitions received

VILLUPURAM: Collector R. Palanisamy received as many as 238 petitions seeking compensation for rain-related damage in the district, at a grievances day on Monday.

He later announced that the rain-affected people could hand over their petitions regarding property, crop and cattle loss to his Personal Assistant (Agriculture) and the respective tahsildars and revenue divisional officers till December 5, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

They would refer the petitions to the Collector. The tahsildars and the RDOs had been instructed to assess the damage within their jurisdictions and prepare a report.
