Assistance for terror victims’ kin

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The State Cabinet would take a decision on the quantum of financial assistance to be given to the next of kin of the victims of the Mumbai terrorist attack, Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan told the Assembly on Monday. Replying to a submission by V. Sivan Kutty (CPI-M), Mr. Balakrishnan said the quantum of assistance for the family of Sandeep Unnikrishnan would not be less than that announced by the Karnataka and Maharashtra governments. Besides financial assistance, the government would also consider providing land to the family of Murukan and his son Aneesh, who had died in the terrorist attack, he said. The House paid homage to the victims of the terrorist attack . The Speaker said Sandeep Unnikrishnan had shown exceptional courage in taking on the terrorists. The House observed a minute’s silence. – Special Correspondent
