dated December 2, 1958: Top U.N. post

Mr. C.V. Narasimhan of India has been appointed Under-Secretary for Special Political Affairs in succession to Sir Humphrey Trevelyan, it was announced in United Nations on December 1. Mr. Narasimhan has been serving as Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Asia and the Far East since September 1, 1956. In 1953, Mr. Narasimhan joined the Ministry of Finance to be in charge of Planning and Technical Assistance and, at the time of his appointment to ECAFE in 1956, was serving as Joint Secretary of the Ministry directly in charge of its Economic Affairs Department. Mr. Narasimhan will take up his new duties at the United Nations Headquarters on January 26, 1959.
