Sudip gives Bengal the lead

BANGALORE: Sudip Chatterjee’s 109 helped Bengal gain a 46-run first innings lead over Haryana in a Cooch Behar Trophy Elite Group ‘C’ under-19 match that ended in a draw here on Monday. Bengal scored 339 in reply to Haryana’s 293.

At Bangalore: Haryana 293 in 116.4 overs (Rajat Paliwal 84 n.o., Manoj Chamdila 48, Mukul Dagar 42, Prateek Srivastav six for 77) drew with Bengal 339 in 129.1 overs (Sudip Chatterjee 109, Abhishek Das 54, Avilin Ghosh 43, Jayant Yadav five for 89).

Himachal Pradesh 167 in 79.3 overs (Rishi Dhawan 63, Shivraj Deshmukh five for 40) and 77 for two in 36 overs drew with Mumbai 246 in 82.1 overs (Pankaj Jaiswal 83 n.o.).

At Chennai: Uttar Pradesh 161 for three decl. in 63 overs (Akash Verma 42, Ankit Tiwari 67, Umang Sharma 26 n.o.) drew with Baroda 22 for one in 13 overs.

Tamil Nadu v Saurashtra called off due to wet outfield.

At Visakhapatnam: Rajasthan 242 & 171 in 51.4 overs (A. Singh 39, Ashok Menaria 29, Lakshya Seth five for 48, Jaskarn Singh three for 43) lost to Punjab 438 for eight decl. in 124.5 overs (Mandeep Singh 88, Mohit Mohinder 78 n.o., Yuvraj Singh 77, Lakshay Seth 32 n.o., Azharuddin Khan four for 89).

Vidarbha 219 & 191 in 73.4 overs (Sumeet Ruikar 42, Sankalp Kamble 31, A. Chourasiya 27, Abrar Kazi three for 30, A. Mithun three for 61) lost to Karnataka 401 in 124.5 overs (K.L. Rahul 131 n.o., Pawan Deshpande 76, Sumeet Ruikar four for 76, Viraj Kadbe three for 91) & 12 for no loss in 3.4 overs.
