Mumbai attack: Bihar announces compensation

PATNA: The Bihar Labour Department on Tuesday announced that the next of kin of each Bihari migrant labourer who was killed in the November 26 terrorist attacks in Mumbai will get Rs.1 lakh as compensation.

This will be in addition to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s compensation package of Rs.1.50 lakh.

Bihar’s Labour Minister Awadhesh Narayan Singh told PTI that all district magistrates had been directed to furnish at the earliest a list of migrant Bihari labourers who lost their lives. The next of the kin of each of the deceased will get Rs.1 lakh from the State government and Rs. 50,000 from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. – PTI
