This Day That Age
The 13th Madras State Medical Conference at its open session at the Madras Medical College premises held on December 1, adopted a resolution requesting the State Government to create a separate department for occupational health services as well as a directorate of occupational health services, “in view of the rapid industrialisation and of the occupational health problems that would arise in the State,” requesting the Government and the University to reopen the condensed M.B.B.S. course for licentiates in Modern Medicine in the interests of higher medical education and to remove the various handicaps suffered by medical licentiates. The conference also requested the State Government to convert the present College of Integrated Medicine into a College of Modern Medicine, to institute Post-Graduate courses and Research Studies in different branches of Indian Medicine, to include all registered medical practitioners under Essential Services.”
