e-mails sent to Karachi from Tiruvuru
Staff Reporter
VIJAYAWADA: The Tiruvuru police of Krishna district are questioning the proprietor of a local computer training institute, suspecting his association with the religious fundamentalist groups that sponsored terror in Mumbai.
The police seized five hard discs and a mobile phone from Haseena Computer Centre, located a few yards away from the Tiruvuru police station, and began questioning its proprietor, 23-year-old Sheik Mastan, since Sunday. The issue came to light only on Tuesday.
As the police found that e-mails were being sent to Karachi from Tiruvuru, they began questioning those who had Internet connection.
In the process, they zeroed in on Mastan, who possessed scripts and video discs of Islamic religious discourses.
Krishna district SP D. Ramakrishnaiah said they had only taken Mastan into custody and were questioning him. “We are questioning several others too. We can’t say anything about the investigation at this moment,” he told The Hindu.
