Coast Guard detains seven Pakistanis

Special Correspondent

AHMEDABAD: Seven Pakistanis, who claimed they were fishermen, were detained and their fishing trawler was seized by the Coast Guard off the Jakhau port in Gujarat on Tuesday.

A Coast Guard spokesman said the boat, “Al Rafiq,” was intercepted when the men were found fishing deep inside Indian territorial waters. They could not produce identification papers to establish that they were fishermen. After an inquiry, the Coast Guard authorities will hand them over to the Kutch district police.
