Rail terminal was the worst-hit in attack

MUMBAI: A total of 56 people were killed in the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST), the first target of Mumbai’s latest terror attacks last Wednesday. Railway officials said that of the 98 people injured, 48 were grievously hurt. The Railway Ministry has announced Rs.10 lakh as compensation to the families of each of the dead in the CST attack.
Data available indicates that the CST was the worst affected with the highest dead and injured toll. The overall death toll remains at 172, and 248 injured were admitted to hospital. Forty-six people were discharged after treatment. Of the injured, 209 are male and 39 female. Among the dead, 136 are male. Twenty-six foreigners were killed in the attack.
While 32 people were killed in the Oberoi and Trident hotels, the Taj Mahal Hotel has so far not released any official figures of the number of people killed, except for the names of 10 staff members who died and three family members of the General Manager of Taj Mahal palace and Tower, Karambir Kang.
Three Jewish people lost their lives in the Nariman House siege. Two people were killed in a taxi blast at Vile Parle, and two injured. The suspected terrorists killed 10 people at Leopold Café in Colaba.
