Maharashtra to get new Chief Minister

NEW DELHI: The Congress on Wednesday began the search for a new Chief Minister in Maharashtra after deciding to accept the resignation of Vilasrao Deshmukh. Defence Minister A.K. Antony, who is in charge of party affairs in the State, told journalists that a meeting of the CLP would be held in Mumbai on Thursday to pick the successor. Top party sources said three names were under consideration — Industries Minister Ashok Chavan, the former CM, Narayan Rane, and the former Union Minister, Balasaheb Vikhe-Patil.
