Three injured as vehicle falls into gorge

KOTTAYAM: Three persons were seriously injured when the vehicle they were travelling in fell into a gorge at 40th Mile on K.K. Road near Peruvanthanam on Thursday noon.

The vehicle was coming from Nilackal and the passengers were traders at Nilackal.

Hospitalised

According to the police, the gorge is nearly 250 m deep. Two persons have been admitted to the Government Medical College at Theni.

The driver of the vehicle, Shibu Varghese, has been admitted to the Kottayam Government Medical College.

The traders were on their way back as they did not have proper documents with them. The documents had become necessary as the police had stepped up security in Nilackal.

13th accident

This was the thirteenth accident on the Sabarimala route between Mundakkayam and Kuttikanam during the past two weeks, according to sources.

Two persons had lost their lives in these accidents.
