It will be chalked out at a cost of Rs. 40 lakh 15 more fogging machines to be procured
Tirupur: To combat the increasing mosquito menace in the city, the Corporation has chalked out an integrated vector control project at an estimate of Rs. 40 lakh.
The Corporation Commissioner, M. Ashokan, told The Hindu that as part of the scheme, 15 more fogging machines would be procured.
At present, 10 such gadgets are being used by the Corporation which has been found inadequate to cover all the 52 wards effectively.
The amalgamated methodology to be adopted to eliminate the breeding ground of mosquito would focus on engineering aspects as well as prompt removal of garbage, which can cause water stagnation if strewn.
“We will enumerate damaged sceptic tanks and stagnant water bodies and drain out water stored in overhead tanks for prolonged period,” Corporation health officials said.
For timely removal of litter from the city, the defunct cattle shed situated at Karuvampalayam would be renovated at a cost of Rs. 30 lakh to facilitate servicing and parking of trucks utilised in the Solid Waste Management project.
Presently, an average of 350 tonnes of garbage are generated a day from the Corporation limits.“The yard will be designed to handle 1,000 tonnes of solid waste a day projected to be generated from the Corporation limits in 2040,” sources said.
