SRIKAKULAM: Eight bogies of the Ernakulam–Patna super fast express (Train No. 6309) got derailed at Lakkavaram village near Sompeta in Srikakulam district at around 1 a.m. on Wednesday. Sources said that the derailment occurred as one of the twin tracks broke. About 15 persons sustained minor injuries and were rushed to the government hospital in Sompeta by ambulances. Since it was the dead night, passengers were in deep sleep. They were awakened by a loud noise even as the bogies tilted to one side, causing injuries to some of them. People from Lakkavaram village rushed to the site of accident when they heard the sound.The stranded passengers were shifted to the new train.
