KOCHI: Even as the security measures have been tightened at the Kochi airport following a high alert note received from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security, a passenger using the boarding of a co-passenger, managed to evade the multi-level security inspections and reach up to the final point of boarding flights on Thursday morning. Airport officials said that Paravades, a native of Andhra Pradesh, was stopped at the ramp by Air India security officials after he attempted to board a Jazeera (J9 487) flight to Dubai from here at 4.30 a.m. with the boarding pass of Krishna, his co-passenger. On questioning, Paravades said he was unaware of the check-in formalities and admitted committing the mistake. Later, he was allowed to leave from here. The officials said that earlier, Krishna had reportedly lost his original boarding pass and was issued a duplicate one by the airline officials on a request. However, he recovered the original one from the terminal and handed it over to Paravades who was still waiting in the queue to check in. Though Paravades was caught at the final point, the fact that he had managed to evade the various stages of security inspections including that of the immigration authorities and the CISF is cited as a serious lapse in the security network at the airport.
